Job summary

Syngenta seeks an experienced Crop Management Specialist in Antalya, Türkiye to lead end-to-end field and greenhouse agronomy operations, delivering high-quality plant material for development, production and breeding trials.

You will provide technical leadership across nursery, crop, and pollination activities, ensuring GSPP, HSE, quality, traceability and site readiness while collaborating with R&D and breeding teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field; MS degree preferred.
  • 5–10 years in agricultural or plant science research environments with leadership.
  • Experience in agronomy, nursery operations, or field research management.
  • Eligibility to acquire and maintain a pesticide applicator license.
  • Good command of English (B2–C1) for international collaboration.
  • Availability to work unscheduled shifts, including weekends; driving license required.

Responsibilities

  • Directly managing the vegetable field-agronomy program.
  • Manage breeding and marketing field trials using data-driven decisions.
  • Coordinate irrigation, fertilisation, and pest/disease control programmes.
  • Lead on-site data collection, ensuring accuracy and consistency of trial data.
  • Develop activity and task plans for field and greenhouse operations.
  • Collaborate with Breeding and Seed Processing teams to align seasonal activities.
  • Act as the primary GSPP Technical Expert on site.
  • Ensure compliant disposal of hazardous waste per legal/operational processes.
  • Engage with new technologies and R&D principles; monitor KPIs.

Position Summary

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Vegetable Seeds Development team is seeking an experienced Crop Management Specialist in Antalya, Turkey. This role leads end-to-end field and greenhouse agronomy operations ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of plant material for development, production and breeding trials. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership of nursery, crop and pollination operations with accountability for GSPP, HSE, quality, traceability and site readiness.

Accountabilities
  • Directly managing the vegetable field-agronomy program
  • Managing breeding and marketing field trials using data-driven decision making and a philosophy of continuous improvement
  • Participating in research and process-improvement projects related to the growing and breeding of vegetable varieties
  • Incorporating leading capabilities and technologies into daily operations to bring the highest quality products to market efficiently, safely and environmentally soundly
  • Ensuring and proposing investment in capabilities and infrastructure in alignment with R&D strategy
  • Coordinating irrigation, fertilisation, and pest/disease control programmes in alignment with GSPP and R&D standards
  • Leading, developing, and motivating the agronomy operations team, supporting individual growth and setting clear performance expectations
  • Directing and coordinating the on-site data collection team, ensuring accuracy and consistency of trial data
  • Functioning as an integral member of the site Operations Team, participating in all in-scope activities
  • Developing and maintaining detailed activity and task plans for all field and greenhouse operations
  • Collaborating closely with the Breeding and Seed Processing teams to ensure seasonal activities are effectively aligned
  • Acting as the primary GSPP Technical Expert on site
  • Managing and coordinating the proper disposal of hazardous waste in line with the required legal and operational processes
  • Requesting agrochemicals, fertilisers and administrative supplies in line with operational needs and monitoring and managing stock levels for uninterrupted supply
  • Engaging with new technologies, R&D principles and changing operational requirements with openness and adaptability
  • Actively monitoring KPIs and operational metrics, using data-driven insights to assess performance and identify improvement areas
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field (MS degree preferred)
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience in agricultural or plant science research environments and ability to lead and develop a team in an operational environment
  • Proven experience in agronomy, nursery operations, or field research management
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies
  • Eligibility to acquire and maintain a pesticide applicator's license
  • Good command of English (B2 – C1) required for communication with international colleagues and global functions
  • Availability to work unscheduled shifts based on field conditions and weather (including weekends)
  • Driving license required
