IFC’s PE Funds group plays an integral role in this mission, focusing on growth equity, venture capital, small business funds in frontier regions, and selectively sector funds. IFC seeks a PE Funds Investment Officer based in Istanbul to assess fund managers in the Middle East & Central Asia and Europe regions to determine alignment with IFC investment criteria for financial returns, development impact, and environmental and social responsibility, and to conduct portfolio monitoring analyses for IFC’s existing portfolio. The role may include corporate assignments and global portfolio analyses.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • New Business
    • Perform due diligence and structuring of private equity fund investment projects as a transaction leader.
    • Coordinate with internal IFC stakeholders – including Legal; Risk; Environmental and Social; Development Impact; and Macroeconomics – to process and present investment projects and ensure compliance with IFC standards.
    • Conduct industry research, network at regional and global industry conferences, and assist with country-focused and regional market mappings.
  • Portfolio Management
    • Actively monitor the assigned portfolio of funds, including reviewing quarterly and annual reports and preparing internal reports and valuations based on financial statements and progress reports.
    • Participate in annual meetings and other meetings with fund managers; coordinate with IFC’s Legal department and Portfolio Manager to make portfolio decisions as needed.
    • Take Advisory Committee positions in portfolio funds as an IFC representative.
    • Build and maintain client relationships to ensure responsive client service and enhance new business opportunities.
    • Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes and perform portfolio analyses at regional and global levels.
  • Corporate Strategy
    • Assist Global Managers with assignments relating to global team and corporate strategy as needed.
    • Analyze development impact of IFC’s funds’ portfolio; perform deep dives on target regions and sectors; ensure data accuracy in internal systems.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or equivalent degree from a reputable university; preferably with economics, finance, or accounting. MBA from a leading international institution preferred.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in fund investments, equity investments, corporate finance or consulting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; sound business judgment to identify issues and present practical solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams and across boundaries; demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Strong client service orientation with openness to feedback and new ideas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
