Job summary

A leading construction company is seeking a Workplace Safety & Health Officer to oversee the establishment and maintenance of Safety & Health Management Systems on-site. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in workplace safety regulations, hold a valid WSHO license, and possess at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry. This position involves conducting safety training, inspections, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies.

  • Proficient in Workplace Safety & Health Act and regulatory requirements.
  • Must possess WSHO license with safety audits experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in local Building and Construction industry.

Job description

Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSH/ESH) for Construction

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the establishment and maintenance of Safety & Health Management Systems (SHMS) on-site

  • Implement and uphold project and corporate SHMS protocols Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace and process-related risks

  • Propose and enforce safe work procedures Enhance workplace safety performance through strategic measures

  • Ensure adherence to Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and standards Ensure compliance with Statutory Requirements under MOM and NEA

  • Contribute actively to the corporate EHS Committee Conduct in-house safety training sessions Develop and execute EHS plans, trainings, meetings, and promotional activities

  • Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify and address hazards and risks promptly Enforce EHS / OSH regulations at the workplace

  • Serve as secretary for the WSH Committee and preside in the absence of the chairman

  • Investigate, manage, report, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders on accidents or EHS non-compliance incidents

  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by superiors

Requirements

  • Proficient in the Workplace Safety & Health Act and other regulatory requirements

  • Must possess WSHO license and familiarity with safety audits

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the local Building and Construction industry

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Completion of a full cycle of HDB BTO project is advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills and a positive working attitude
