A leading company in Singapore seeks a Workplace Safety and Health Officer to implement safety policies and ensure compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, auditing, incident investigations, and training delivery. Suitable candidates will hold a Specialist Diploma and have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, focusing on interior fit-out projects.
Responsibilities:
Implement and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements in accordance with the WSH Act, MOM & BCA regulations, and industry Codes of Practice
Lead the development and review of Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Risk Assessments (RA), and Safe Work Method Statements
Conduct regular and ad-hoc site safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and unsafe practices
Stop unsafe work when necessary and advise on remedial actions and take immediate corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate hazards
Report and investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive measures
Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSH documentation including training records, RA registers, inspection checklists, safety reports, and incident logs
Conduct site safety inductions, facilitate toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and emergency drills
Conduct safety committee meetings and safety audits for management reporting and provide guidance to the members in carrying out their safety duties
Liaise with authorities, external and internal stakeholders on safety matters
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company-wide Environmental, Health and Safety Management System
Involve in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and bizSAFE implementations and audits
Proactively collaborate with relevant stakeholders to review and improve safety processes in line with industry best practices and promote a strong safety culture
Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health or related qualifications
Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer with the Ministry of Manpower
At least 5 years’ experience as WSHO in the construction industry, preferably with prior experience involved in interior fit-out and/or A&A projects
Strong knowledge of Singapore’s WSH legislation, codes of practice, and ISO standards (45001, 14001 & 9001)
Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, safety auditing, and training delivery
Excellent communication, problem-solving and reporting skills
Able to travel and multi-task in a fast paced and dynamic environment
