Job summary

Gates PCM Construction Ltd seeks a Works Train Station Supervisor/Ground Shunter to oversee safe access and movements within the defined area, coordinating with WTCO, train operators and site staff. The role involves setting up track protection, mobilising safety equipment and supervising small teams across rotating shifts.

Responsibilities include responding to incidents, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and performing related Works Train operations tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: NTC 2/3 or GCE O-Level or equivalent.
• Experience in railway, Works Train or construction is advantageous.
• Able to supervise small teams and coordinate work.
• Willing to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Physically fit for railway/construction environment.

• Assist with training and familiarisation of new staff.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies and implement recovery measures.
• Perform other duties related to Works Train operations as assigned.

• Ensure safe track access and movement of Engineering Consists (EC) and Passenger Vehicles (PV) within the assigned Defined Area (DA).
• Control and monitor personnel, work parties and train movements within the DA.
• Implement railway safety rules and procedures in accordance with the Works Train Manual.
• Set up and maintain required track protection measures, including signage, warning lights, short circuit devices and secured points.
• Issue, maintain and control Works Train safety equipment and signage.
• Assist the Works Train Controller (WTCO) with shunting and train movements within the DA.
• Coordinate with the WTCO, train operators, work parties and relevant site personnel.
• Monitor compliance with operational and safety requirements.
• Assist with the training and familiarisation of newly assigned staff.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies and implement appropriate recovery measures.
• Perform other duties related to Works Train operations as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Minimum NTC 2/3, GCE O-Level or equivalent.
• Relevant railway, Works Train or construction experience will be an advantage.
• Able to read and communicate in English.
• Willing to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Willing to work overtime when required.
• Able to work independently and follow instructions from the WTCO.
• Able to supervise and coordinate small work teams.
• Able to respond effectively to operational incidents and emergencies.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a railway/construction environment.
• Strong safety awareness and teamwork skills.
