Job description

This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Company’s WSH procedures to promote a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, manage, monitor and improve the Company’s workplace safety and health, and environmental control policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all related legal and other laws and regulations.

  • Plan and propose annual safety management programme to the management team and execute the plan accordingly

  • Provide WSH advisory, guidance and support to project and maintenance teams to identify, evaluate and mitigate workplace safety risks, implement risk control measures and risk mitigation plans, ensure site complies with the industries.

  • Ensure adequacy of Personal Protective Equipment to comply with safety standards.

  • Conduct routine inspections and audit of work sites to ensure safe work practices and update procedures to keep abreast of current operations and comply with the regulations.

  • Liaise with respective government authorities, consultants, customers and subcontractors on all required WSH compliance matters and act as a management representative.

  • Ensure adequacy of WSH-related training of staff to ensure that they are properly trained to perform their responsibilities in compliance with the Company’s WSH standards, policies and procedures.

  • Manage and lead inquires on injuries and perform investigations into reportable incidents.

  • Maintain proper and updated inspections, accidents and all other WSH related records/documents.

  • Participate in tender risk assessment and provide supporting documents for tender submission by ensuring that all WSH requirements in tenders are highlighted and adequately catered for

  • Issuing fine to sub-contractors for violation of safety procedures

  • To implement ISO45001 by ensuring awareness and compliance in the organisation and to ensure that OHSAS documents is updated

  • Comply with the Company’s ISO9001/45001 and DPTM standard operating procedures at all times

  • Ensure that works activities are carried out in accordance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act and its regulatory requirements.

  • Comply with the company’s Safe work procedures at all times

  • Ensure that all staff and sub-contractors are wearing all appropriate PPE during work activities

  • Report any incident, accident, near miss, occupational disease, dangerous occurrence, or suspicious risks associated with the threat of terrorism so that prompt action can be taken to address them

  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Competence (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Good knowledge on Workplace Safety and Health Act, Regulations, Code of Practices, ISO45001 and Singapore Standards

  • Proficient in WSH Risk Management

  • Competent in the monitoring, inspection and control of workplace safety and health conditions

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Requirements:

  • Able to deal with routine tasks and may perform tasks with some level of complexity

  • Able to solve problems in most cases and within guidelines

  • Works independently within guidelines, defined procedures and direction

  • Registered WSH Officer with MOM

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in Work, Health and Safety/Specialist Diploma in WSH (Level C) or equivalent

  • Additional certification such as ISO certification for Internal Auditor Training and Advanced Certification in Workplace Safety and Health is highly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of managerial work experience in WSH role.
