A leading company in construction seeks a Work Place Safety and Health Officer responsible for reviewing and implementing safety management systems. The role includes monitoring compliance, conducting site inspections, and ensuring all stakeholders are trained. The ideal candidate holds a relevant diploma or degree, is a registered WSH Officer, and has significant experience in safety management.
Purpose of Job / Job Summary
The Work Place Safety and Health Officer is responsible for the review and implementation of the project WSHE Management System. Directly report to the Project Director and advise him on the measures to be taken in the interests of safety and health of the persons employed on the project.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
Monitor and review the Company’s WSHE management system and procedures, and to ensure procedures are updated and in compliance with the latest Approved Codes of Practices and government legislation;
WSHE expert in advising the management on all WSHE matters pertaining to authority procedures on civil sites;
Provide and present regular reports to the management on the performance of the Company’s WSHE management system;
Ensure all relevant stakeholders, from Project Managers to workers, attend the relevant WSHE courses as required by law and the Company;
Ensure proper documentation and records keeping of all WSHE training, accident reports and safety correspondences with LTA/CAG/PUB or respective authority;
Conduct periodic WSHE site inspections to ensure site compliance with WSHE programmes and procedures;
Ensure external & internal audits are conducted on all civil sites as per LTA/Authority requirements;
Be prepared to stop work or to notify the Project/Construction Manager in the event of any WSHE deviations.
Job Specifications
Qualifications
Possess at least a Specialist Diploma in WSH and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Workplace safety and health (WSH) or related
MOM registered WSH Officer with Level C Certificate in WSH
At least 3 years of work experience relevant as a WSH Officer
Experience
At least 3 years post registration and practical experience relevant to the scope of works of the contract
Specific skills/abilities
In-depth knowledge of WSHE legal guidelines to advise and facilitate site activities
Familiar with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Personal qualities
Possess strong knowledge in risk analysis and risk control.
Excellent presentation skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Coordination with Subcon, QP(S), Client, various agencies, and interfacing parties
