Workplace Interior Project Designer (Associate to Mid-level) - Singapore

Paperspace is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Workplace Interior Project Designer to join our Singapore design team.

An exciting opportunity to be part of Paperspace's dynamic and creative design team! Based in Singapore, the Project Designer's primary role is to support the project process from design development to delivery and completion, ensuring alignment with the project's program and budget. This role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within team environments to manage multiple projects, supporting or leading projects through various stages including design development, project management, and overseeing project execution. Collaboration with regional design teams is also part of the role.

Roles & Responsibilities

A. Overview of the Role:

1. General Interior Design Tasks

  • Support the Design Team in understanding client’s business needs, branding, and workspace functionality to define service offerings, scope of works, and contract frameworks.
  • Interpret and translate client requirements into plans during the briefing stage.
  • Assist the Studio Lead and Senior Designer in space planning and design development, optimizing space utilization and productivity.
  • Support the preparation of designs, presentations, and scheme boards.
  • Visit job sites to analyze space availability, design needs, and space purpose.
  • Manage and lead design development and tender processes.
  • Research and evaluate products for sourcing furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials, and finishes; maintain resource library.
  • Maintain knowledge of cost-effective and sustainable materials, furniture, and finishes.
  • Collaborate with the Technical team to prepare construction document packages as needed.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes, evolutions, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with regional teams on projects and pitches.

2. Design Execution

  • Work with QS or Project Manager to oversee project budgets.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure smooth design execution during construction.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders regarding site design matters.

3. Proposals and Pitching

  • Support the design team in preparing proposals, RFP responses, and presentations.

4. Continuous Performance & Quality Improvements

  • Collaborate with the Design & Technical teams to enhance design quality and client engagement.
  • Support the development of performance benchmarks and client relationship strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate is a creative, talented individual with:

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Expertise in office layouts, ergonomics, and workspace optimization.

Soft Skills

  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Effective time management and task prioritization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with positive energy and resilience.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in various environments.

  • Proficiency in written English is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • 4-5+ years’ experience in workplace interior design with project coordination.
  • Proven experience as a Project Designer supporting or leading commercial workplace projects.
  • Comprehensive experience in design management, project coordination, space planning, budgeting, FF&E specifications, and construction documentation.
