Job summary

A leading marine consultancy firm is seeking a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Engineer to ensure the highest welding standards. The role includes overseeing welding processes, preparing relevant documentation, and conducting audits. Candidates should have a Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, at least 3 years of related experience, and relevant certifications in welding inspection. Job description

  • Prepare and qualify WPS & PQR according to Code, Standard and project requirement. Submit to client and Third party for approval.
  • Lead welding supervisor, welding inspector, welding foreman and welder to produce the best of welding performance according to code and project requirement.
  • Reviewing mill certificate of material, welding electrode and others welding consumable to make sure all documents are meet company procedure and project requirement. To maintain the summary of all the WPS related to the yard & project wise.
  • Reviewing welding parameter report, PWHT report, PMI report, Mechanical test report, ferrite test report, hardness test report, Hydro test report, Leak test report, weigh test report, pull test report, dimension test report, visual test report, Painting report, TSA report, Galvanizing report and NDT Report to make sure all documents are meet company procedure and project requirement.
  • Work closely with QA/QC team on preparing documentation ( ITP, Work instruction, welding map, NDT Map, manufacturing data report, progressing quality documentation, technical quire, non-conformance report )
  • Orientation of new revision and changing of Code and standard (ASME, API, AWS, BS, EN and all client specification) to QA/QC and relevant department, to make sure new revision can be implement into company procedure and quality management system.
  • Ensure that work is carried out fully in accordance with the project quality standards specified in the Contract and that the procedures laid down in the Project Quality Plan to achieve these standards are followed.
  • Ensuring QMS conformance and customers' quality requirements satisfaction.
  • Issue Corrective Action Requests and Field Non-Conformance Reports. Investigates problems, evaluates root cause and recommends corrective action.
  • Preparing WPS and PQR for SS, SDSS, CS, Low alloy steel, Aluminium, Inconel 625 and others materials
  • Prepare and select suitable type of welding joint and welding processes to make sure all drawing can be implementation on work shop or site welding.
  • Liaising with third party inspectors, class surveyors and Auditors for conducting seamless ISO & API Internal audits.
  • Ensure Proper Quality Welding management and supervision.
  • Improve welding processes and welding technic with relevant technology available, to make sure get the best welding arrangement with good quality and fast to complete for the welding work at workshop or site.
  • Monitor welders in performing their job to ensure their capabilities to deliver a sound weld.
  • Check NDE requirements as per approved plan and co-ordinate to welding supervisor regarding the Schedule and location.
  • Monitor and record weld rejection rate of each welder.
  • Root cause analysis for failure of PQR.
  • Development of various welding techniques to align with the production requirements or the efficient flow of work.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
  • Min 3 years’ experience in Quality assurance/Quality control (welding works ) in Marine industry.
  • Possess certificate (AWS Certified Welding inspector / CSWIP 3.2)
  • Knowledge in codes ie ASME/AWS D1.1/ BS EN and ISO standard
  • Knowledge in different welding process (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW (MIG/MAG) and FCAW).
  • 5 days work (8.30am to 5.30pm) at Pioneer (west area)
  • 1 year contract, convertible to perm
  • Salary $3800 - $5000
