A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a qualified Welding Engineer to develop and implement welding procedures specific to power plant applications. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Welding Engineering, proficiency in various welding methods, and the ability to work independently. Responsibilities include overseeing welding operations, ensuring safety compliance, and conducting quality checks. This position offers opportunities in a dynamic heavy industry environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) specific to power plant needs
• Prepare, inspect, and maintain welding tools and equipment, ensuring operational safety
• Analyze blueprints and technical drawings to plan and execute welding tasks
• Select appropriate welding techniques (e.g., 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, orbital welding) based on material and application
• Oversee and perform welding operations on structural and piping systems
• Conduct welding inspections and quality checks, and document results
• Troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all welding activities
Requirements
• Diploma/Nitec/Bachelor’s in Welding Engineering or related discipline
• CSWIP certification preferred
• Proficient in various welding methods (e.g., metal arc, gas cutting, PP welding)
• Experience in heavy industry or power plant environments is an advantage
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
• Strong understanding of welding metallurgy and heat analysis
• Capable of working independently, handling heavy lifting, and extended physical tasks
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills
