Job Opportunity: Water Treatment Utility Technician – Semiconductor Plant (North Singapore)

Location: Woodlands, Singapore
Contract Duration: 2 Years (renewable or convertible to full-time)
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours:

  • Sunday to Thursday, 8:00am – 5:30pm
  • OR Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00am – 5:30pm

About the Role

A leading international water technology and utility services provider is seeking a Technician to support water treatment operations for a high-tech semiconductor manufacturing facility in Woodlands. You will be part of a dedicated onsite team responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient performance of ultra-pure water (UPW) systems and associated instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-shift system technician for ultra-pure water systems; assist with daily troubleshooting to minimize process interruptions.
  • Respond to SCADA/HMI alarms and perform first-line diagnostics and escalation for equipment and instrumentation issues.
  • Support the client’s water treatment team in daily operations, including routine monitoring, inspections, and corrective tasks.
  • Conduct routine calibration and maintenance of sensors and analyzers (e.g., pH, conductivity, chlorine).
  • Review and log operational data using digital tools and generate shift reports.
  • Under supervision, use SCADA to carry out rotational tasks like ON/OFF of pumps, adjusting system setpoints, suppressing alarms, and rotating standby equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical/electrical work: opening/closing valves, isolating systems, and executing Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures for maintenance.
  • Prepare systems to return to service post-maintenance, ensuring all parameters are restored correctly.
  • Comply with EHS, LOTO, confined space, and cleanroom safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • ITE/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering
  • 1–3 years of experience operating utility or water treatment systems in a plant environment
  • Familiar with SCADA/HMI interfaces and interpreting live system alarms
  • Basic understanding of RO, UF, EDI, filters, WWTP or similar process water systems
  • Comfortable working around valves, instrumentation, and rotating equipment
  • Able to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and equipment manuals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and able to complete shift reports and digital logs
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written)

Preferred Qualifications (Added Advantages)

  • 2–5 years of experience in UPW or semiconductor plant utilities
  • Priorexperience working at semiconductor fabs or high-purity water systems
  • Knowledge of cleanroom protocols, facility maintenance, and SCADA troubleshooting
  • Experience working under client-based operation teams, shift managers, or facility leads
  • Certifications in WSH, chemical handling, confined space, or LOTO would be a bonus
