Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Documentation and Compliance:

Preparing, processing, and verifying import and export documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists.Ensuring compliance with customs regulations, tariff systems, and other relevant laws and procedures.

Customs Clearance:

Coordinating the clearance of goods through customs, including calculating and arranging for the payment of duties and taxes.

Communication and Coordination:

Maintaining clear and effective communication with internal teams, clients, and external parties such as freight forwarders and customs brokers.

Problem Solving:

Identifying and resolving issues related to customs clearance, such as delays, discrepancies, or regulatory challenges.

Record Keeping:

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all customs-related transactions and documentation.

Advising and Consulting:

Providing guidance and advice to clients on import/export regulations, tariff classifications, and other customs-related matters.

Continuous Improvement:

Staying informed about changes in customs regulations and trade policies, and contributing to process improvements in customs clearance operations.

Specific Tasks:

o Completing customs declaration forms and applying for tariff advice.

o Organizing and classifying shipments according to established procedures.

o Monitoring international shipments and ensuring timely delivery.

o Handling temporary importations and related paperwork.

o Liaising with governmental organizations and regulatory bodies.

o Managing and overseeing the customs clearance process for imported and exported goods.

o Conducting thorough reviews of shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

o Leading training sessions on customs compliance and best practices.
