Job Summary
Develops strategic to ensure technical quality assurance control systems and roadmap meet Customer Supplier and Company quality goals and objectives. Responsible for governance and support to multiple sites and/or corporate Quality Management System effectiveness and efficiencies. Provides quality vision and governance systems as aligned with UCT Site Quality Head / Site Operations Leader. Scope includes implementation of standards review of methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products. Participates in the review of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Is responsible for all assigned site quality functions and quality delivery cost results. Indirect oversight of site quality heads to provide training, mentoring and governance for the Site Quality teams. Ensure the operations, sales and engineering teams are following the standards and process of both UCT and our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for governance audit and review of a regional Quality organization and function: Product, Customer and Supplier Quality to meet/exceed company goals and objectives.
- Drives programs at strategic level for ISO 9001 results and partners with Site Operations Heads to drive effective performance.
- Partner with Site Operations Heads and corporate functions to set & meet quality objectives.
- Supports the sites with Resource (Personnel & equipment) quality teams at each site to support the company objectives. Oversight to ensure quality is adequately staffed and supported.
- Supports the effective regional internal audit team to drive business process compliance effectiveness and site-to-site consistency to meet/exceed UCT and Customer QMS assessment goals & objectives.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships to resolve site quality issues escalated from site operations leaders. Ensure the sites do closure on customer issues. Present to customers on quality topics as escalated/needed.
- Partner with SMT Head to maintain acceptable supplier relationships. Ensure Site Quality Heads have adequate support from SMT to meet/exceed company goals.
- Lead and govern strategic quality cost reduction activities. Examples include inspection reduction program, building quality into operations, assessing cost of quality metrics and driving appropriate activities.
- Lead organization in critical thinking (8D and project management) in the understanding and application of quality tools, disciplines and methods to develop organizational effectiveness to improve operational results to continually improve teamwork across the organization.
- Provide leadership in key process indicator (KPI) definition structure and the effective use of measurement data/results to drive alignment and results in multi-site organization. Organize routine operational review processes.
- Lead & govern projects across the sites to align business processes, drive QMS efficiencies and to produce consistent, predictable and acceptable results.
- Participate in cross-functional teams (and cross-site) to drive quality initiatives.
- Coaches, mentors, develops and at times leads training on quality methods & processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of Statistical data analysis and ability to analyze data to present information.
- Experience and effective capabilities with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methods (8D).
- Critical thinking skills (expert at 8D) ability to understand complex issues and problems and develop plans to address both internal, supplier and customer needs and objectives.
- Strong strategic abilities with proven track results with ability to deep dive to tactical issues when needed.
- Must have effective leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills: team, individual, written, verbal, listening and presentation.
- Team skills, leadership without control, influence and coaching skills are critical to the success of this position.
- Multiple site leadership.
Educational / Certification Requirements
- BS in Manufacturing or Engineering; MS preferred.
- ASQC, CQA, CQT or CQE certification preferred.
Work Experience
- 10 year experience as a Director highly preferred.
- Experience in quality and manufacturing systems and techniques including ISO 9001, SPC, TQM and customer/supplier management required.
- Multi-site leadership required.
- Cross-functional skills with experience in other areas preferred.
Management Experience
10 years direct management.
Overnight Travel
Work may require out of town travel (30%).
