Responsibilities
- Senior member of the team in front-to-end execution of fund finance transactions (including sub ion finance and NAV finance) in Asia Pacific (ex-Japan)
- Conduct due diligence, prepare credit applications (including financial models) and manage approval and closing processes
- Lead the team on the preparation of RFP proposals, term sheets and other loan documentation
- Assist portfolio and support teams in ad hoc post-closing matters
- Keep abreast of market trends and current events in fund finance and the broader industry
- Lead members of the team in the preparation of pitch books and participate in marketing activities
Product Innovation & Development
- Lead the fund finance products (sub ion finance and NAV finance) This includes identifying short-to-medium term addressable market and feasibility analysis, SMBC-tailored product scoping, development of credit evaluation methodologies, exposure and risk management policy, resources hiring, etc.
- Directly responsible for origination, structuring and execution of fund financing for financial sponsors in Asia Pacific. Position will work alongside existing sub ion finance fund product (including Hybrid/NAV for those funds) members to drive incremental fund financing pipeline based on dedicated NAV Financing KPIs and P/L targets
Fund Financing Strategy and Cross-selling
- Lead internal improvement of the fund finance strategy and risk framework working with key stakeholders alongside existing sub ion finance fund product members (including Hybrid/NAV for those funds)
- Identify and generate cross-sell opportunities to increase deal-based ROE and contribute to broader client account ROE including fund FX and derivatives
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordination with relevant departments including New York, London and Tokyo Head Offices in risk analysis and setting of rules related to new business development when required and supported by senior member of SPDA.
Innovation and Thought Leadership
- Oversight over (and manage directly if necessary) execution team in mandate process and managing client expectations (including troubleshooting) throughout deal execution phase and conduct post-closing deal reviews
- Proactively seek for improvements in business efficiency and lead associated internal initiatives as well as conducting business, regulatory, policy or risk driven reportings
- Lead marketing strategy and dedicated product-based account planning for sponsors in conjunction with the global sponsor coverage and other product teams
Job Requirements
- 8-10 years of direct experience in financing including but not limited to fund-level, corporate, and asset-level finance, gained from leading financial institutions
- Strong interest in and understanding of credit, investment and financial analysis and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring. Background may include experience in a major commercial bank or corporate/structured finance group of a leading international organisation
- Good fundamentals of business judgment, with a strong grasp on ethical and professional standards
- A collaborative team player who is also independent and self-motivated
- Demonstrated ability to comply regulatory and internal policies
- Proven leadership and people management experience, with track record of building and leading effective teams
- Good relevant degree from a leading university
