About the Department

The Data Management Office is a centralized function dedicated to driving data democratization through high-quality, credible data and effective management of our data architecture and tools. It governs data usage, provides guidance, optimizes data value for smarter decision-making and improved operational efficiency, and ensures compliance with regulatory data governance standards.

Job Responsibilities

The role will support AI (including Gen AI) as well as data governance activities across the organisation. This role will play an important part in establishing and maintaining a robust governance framework for the development, deployment, and monitoring of AI models as well as operationalisation of data governance across the Bank. The role requires a good conceptual and technical understanding of AI (and Gen AI) technologies, regulatory requirements, data and AI risks such as explainability, data quality, fairness, privacy, security, accountability, transparency, ethics, as well as Gen AI risks such as hallucinations, toxicity, discrimination, etc.

Your main responsibilities are to:

  • Actively contribute to conceptualising, driving and implementing bank-wide AI (and Gen AI) governance strategy, AI and data governance framework, policy, related standards, procedures and guardrails, in line with the Bank’s business, data and AI objectives as well as evolving industry practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, technology, risk, legal and compliance, to integrate AI (and Gen AI) and data governance practices into the bank's ecosystem
  • Actively contribute to the development of AI and data risk management strategies, such as identification of potential risks and implementation of mitigation measures and guardrails
  • Support periodic reporting and updates on AI and data Governance activities to the relevant AI and data governance taskforce and other stakeholders
  • Understand the relevant end-to-end data landscape, including systems, business processes and data flows to support data governance reviews and assessments; co-ordinate in the development and enhancement of supporting documentation
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI and data regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve the bank's AI and data governance strategy, framework and operationalisations
  • Be an agent of change and inculcate AI and data governance culture and discipline across the Bank’s key AI and data processes. Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on AI (and Gen AI) and data governance principles and practices
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
  • Good experience in AI governance, data governance, or a related field, with at least 7-10 years of working experience in the banking industry or equivalent, or consulting/auditing experience with strong exposure to Financial Services
  • A good understanding of AI technology and applications, especially Gen AI, including practical experience building or evaluating AI models, with a strong interest in risk mitigation, safety, and governance of Gen AI systems.
  • Support a dynamic, collaborative and fast-evolving team environment
  • Passion for governing Generative AI technology particularly in the context of a scaled bank.
  • Experience building Agentic AI, LLM, RAG systems with vector databases and understanding their risks and practical governance implications.
  • Exposure to policy-planning, AI ethics, bias mitigations, privacy, and related financial services regulations
  • Good understanding of AI technologies and machine learning algorithms with experience in testing AI models and technologies (e.g. red teaming)
  • Good influencing and persuasion skills, and ability to obtain consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Comfortable with handling ambiguous situations and navigating conflicts with ease
  • Good project management, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage different stakeholders across the Bank
