About the Role:

We're looking for a Visual/UI Designer with a focus on visual and interaction design to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of designers, developers, and business experts to create intuitive, visually engaging interfaces that provide delightful user experiences across digital and physical platforms. Rather than focusing on commercial projects, your work will directly contribute to societal improvements through government-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. User Interface Design: Developing user interfaces for websites, applications, and other digital platforms with a focus on enhancing usability, accessibility, and visual appeal.
  2. Graphic Design, Colour and Typography: Creating graphics, icons, illustrations, and other visual elements that align with the overall design concept and branding guidelines. Selecting appropriate colour palettes and typography that complement the brand identity and enhance readability and visual hierarchy.
  3. Layout and Responsive Design: Arranging elements on screens or pages to achieve a balanced and harmonious composition while ensuring a clear and logical flow. Designing interfaces that adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes and devices, ensuring a consistent user experience across platforms.
  4. Wireframing and Prototyping: Creating low-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize and test design concepts before final implementation.
  5. User Experience (UX) collaboration: Collaborating with UX designers and researchers to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points to inform the design process.
  6. Style Guides and Design Systems: Developing and maintaining style guides or design systems that provide guidelines for consistent design elements, interactions, and brand elements.
  7. Usability Testing: Conducting or participating in usability testing to gather feedback and insights on design effectiveness and make iterative improvements.
  8. Accessibility: Ensuring designs are accessible to users with disabilities following accessibility guidelines and best practices.
  9. Iterative Design: Embracing an iterative design approach, refining and evolving designs based on user feedback and testing.

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience working as a Visual/UI/Web Designer.
  • Degree or Diploma in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in graphic design principles, including layout, composition, colour theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases your ability to design visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for websites, applications, and other digital products.
  • Advanced knowledge of design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma, or other industry-standard tools.
