Job Description

To provide graphic design services and scientific illustrations for the purpose of visually communicating the research conducted at the University to grantors, funding agencies, media and the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To liaise with NUS researchers and provide scientific illustrations to supplement grant proposals, whitepapers and presentations for top tier grants.
  2. To provide illustrations for materials that promote NUS' research and research partnerships to the media, through public outreach, and in printed and electronic media, including websites, videos, brochures, and posters.
  3. To produce PowerPoint slide decks, poster adverts, magazine and brochure designs for the promotion of top tier research proposals, high level corporate presentations, and university-wide communications.
  4. To aid the Deputy President (Research and Technology) and Directors in the Office of the Deputy President Research and Technology in the production of visual media, including report figures and infographics for presentations and reports.
  5. To define and maintain the style and standard of illustrations produced by the Research Communications and Editorial team within the Office of the Deputy President (Research and Technology).
Qualifications
  1. The candidate must hold a degree in a science or engineering discipline or have extensive experience producing scientific illustrations in a related industry.
  2. The candidate must have at least 2 years working in visual communications or creative industries.
  3. An established art or graphic design portfolio demonstrating an interest and understanding of scientific principles is essential.
  4. Candidates must be confident using Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop, and must be fluent in using Microsoft PowerPoint. Experience with vector-based illustration software is desirable.
  5. Experience in 3D modelling and rendering software is advantageous but not essential.
  6. Candidates must be confident in reading, understanding and digesting scientific papers from a wide range of disciplines.
  7. Candidates must be able to work independently on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.
  8. The candidate should possess a good understanding of the academic and research environment in Singapore.
