Job description

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites applications for the position of Visiting Professor in Materials Science and Engineering. We seek distinguished international academics to contribute to our vibrant research environment, particularly in the area of functional nano- and micro-scale materials for energy storage.

This position aims to attract globally recognised leaders who can enrich the activities of MSE, NTU Singapore, by fostering sustainable academic ties and facilitating high-impact research collaborations. The successful candidate will engage with faculty, researchers, and students, contributing his/her expertise and perspective to enhance the School's research and educational missions.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Engage actively in collaborative research programmes with NTU MSE faculty members and research groups within the specified focus area, e.g. functional nano- and micro-scale materials for energy storage. This may involve co-supervising research staff/students, contributing to ongoing projects or initiating new collaborative ventures.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students, sharing insights on research methodology, career development, and academic leadership.
  • Deliver seminars, guest lectures, or specialised short courses/workshops to benefit the NTU community.
  • Offer strategic advice and perspectives on research directions, programme development, or curriculum enhancement within the School.
  • Act as a bridge to facilitate and strengthen academic and research links between NTU MSE and their home institution, as well as their broader international network.
  • Promote opportunities for joint research proposals and publications.


Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Current status as a tenured Full Professor (or equivalent senior academic rank) at a top-ranked, internationally recognised university or research institute.
  • An outstanding international reputation and a strong, active research track record.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, lead research initiatives, and mentor junior faculty members and students.
