Job description

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As a Video Editor (Contract), you’ll be a member of the Singapore-based team, working alongside local developers and creatives to shape compelling video content for Riot. You’ll contribute to ideation, editing, and localization of videos, supporting Riot’s mission to deliver resonant, impactful storytelling through video. This role goes beyond technical execution—you’ll help craft the creative direction, make strong editorial decisions based on story beats, and ensure every video maintains high production value and emotional resonance.

Please note that Riot Games does not offer relocation packages for this position. You need to be able to work legally in Singapore, without Riot Games’ sponsorship, to be considered.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Production Collaboration

  • Participate in pre-production planning—develop beat sheets, shot lists, and narrative arcs.
  • Contribute to the creative strategy and planning of video projects.
  • Collaborate with team members on storyboards, and story planning tools.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain clear channels of communication with local developers, aligning on scripts and shoot schedules.
  • Collaborate with IT and Comms teams to coordinate event screenings, ensuring technical setup and delivery run smoothly.
  • Track progress against pre-arranged timelines, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

Filming & Equipment Setup

  • Set up a small-scale filming environment with mirrorless cameras, 2- or 3-point lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Operate a teleprompter for scripted segments, ensuring on-camera talent remains prepared.
  • Utilize a gimbal for stabilized shots and dynamic camera movement.

Video Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit raw footage into engaging, polished videos suitable for internal audiences (e.g., staff updates, product demos).
  • Incorporate basic storytelling principles, making editing choices motivated by story beats.
  • Manage file exports across various video formats, understanding differences in codecs and compression.
  • Handle difficult footage with skill and create emotionally resonant stories.
  • Apply basic color correction and create motion graphics when needed.
  • Make editing decisions rooted in pacing, tone, motivation, and strong narrative flow.
  • Integrate music and sound elements to elevate emotion and story beats.

Media Management & Archiving

  • Organize and archive all media files in a consistent, logical manner to facilitate easy retrievals.
  • Work with team leads to ensure naming conventions, file structures, and version control are maintained properly.
Required Qualifications:

Technical Proficiency

  • Intermediate experience with mirrorless cameras, basic lighting setups, and audio recording gear.
  • Familiarity with at least one non-linear editing (NLE) application (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Understanding of audio track layout standards and basic audio mixing techniques is a plus.
  • Comfortable exporting footage to common video codecs and maintaining high-quality standards.

Storytelling & Editing Technique

  • Grasps fundamental story structures (e.g., three-act structure) to keep viewers engaged.
  • Makes purposeful editing decisions that support the narrative, ensuring smooth pacing and clarity.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Excellent team player, able to communicate effectively and diplomatically with multiple stakeholders (developers, IT, comms).
  • Open to constructive feedback, adjusting editing choices as needed to reflect broader project goals.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and reliability to meet agreed-upon deadlines.

Organization & Problem-Solving

  • Able to multi-task across shooting schedules, editing timelines, and event coordination.
  • Strong media management skills, including consistent naming conventions and archival processes.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting minor tech issues with hardware or software, escalating when necessary.

When submitting your application, please include a portfolio showcasing your past work.

Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
