Job summary

Job description

Job Purpose

You are required to provide support to the Underwriting Team that involves liaising with reinsurers on underwriting guidelines, campaigns, and audit, and to co-ordinate and facilitate internal quality assurance. You are also required to provide underwriting support for all individual product lines in New Business Underwriting.

The Job

· Participate in the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.

· Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established underwriting guidelines.

· Collaborate closely with reinsurers to develop and implementunderwriting campaigns

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration

· Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with underwriting decisions through the review of pending cases.

· Underwrite new applications for life, health, long term care and high net worth proposals.

· Countersign and provide guidance to underwriters.

· Conduct underwriting training for distribution channels.

· Ensure department KPI are achieved.

· Take accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks;

· Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and appropriate steps to mitigate the risks; and

· Highlight any potential concerns/risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

Requirements:

· Degree with at least 10 years’ experience in underwriting Life, Accident and Health risks;

· Non-degree holders who have relevant experience or certification in underwriting may be considered;

· Leadership ability and a team player;

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure;

· Good interpersonal and communication skills;

· High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork; and

· Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
