Job summary

A leading company in Singapore is seeking an experienced professional to lead and oversee the internal control and audit function across its business units. The successful candidate will implement internal control standards, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements. Ideal applicants will possess at least 8–10 years of experience, strong leadership abilities, and be fluent in both English and Japanese to communicate with the Head Office Audit Department.

Job description

To lead and oversee the internal control and internal audit function at the business units level, ensuring alignment with HQ policies, risk management frameworks, and regulatory requirements. This role provides independent evaluation of governance, risk and control and acts as a strategic partner to both HQ and local leadership in strengthening governance, risk management, and process efficiency.



Internal Control:

  • Implement and enforce the Group’s internal control standards, policies, and procedures across all subsidiary operations.
  • Conduct periodic internal control assessments and ensure timely remediation of identified control weaknesses.
  • Ensure compliance with Group-level financial reporting and operational control requirements (e.g., JSOX).
  • Promote a culture of compliance, control ownership, and ethical conduct within the subsidiary.

Internal Audit:

  • Perform risk-based internal audits as per the audit plan from HQ.
  • Conduct walkthroughs, control testing, and documentation in line with internal audit standards.
  • Analyze findings, quantify risks, and prepare audit reports with root causes and recommendations.
  • Follow up on the implementation of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory examiners as needed.
  • Ensure that audit findings are documented, quantified, and communicated clearly to local and HQ management on audit results, control risks, and governance gaps.


Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, audit methodologies, and risk management.
  • Strategic thinking and strong business acumen
  • High integrity and professional skepticism
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; fluent in English and Japanese
  • Ability to communicate with the Head Office Audit Department in native-level Japanese and independently prepare formal reports in Japanese for submission to the Head Office Audit Committee and Board of Directors
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant or managerial experience, with at least 3 years in internal audit, risk management, or financial controls
