Principal Responsibilities

The VP of Regulatory Reporting is responsible for the preparation and review of regulatory returns submitted to RBI, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role requires awareness of RBI guidelines and regulations, including their ongoing updates.

  • Ensure compliance with BASEL requirements as specified by RBI, coordinating with Credit Services and Customer Groups.
  • Monitor RWAs according to PRA/HKMA standards and prepare relevant reports.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize capital usage to support business objectives.
  • Support RBI onsite inspections and understand RBI requirements for interpretation and implementation.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of capital-related RBI returns.
  • Archive and retrieve information efficiently.
Key Activities and Impact
  • Assist SVP Regulatory Reporting in assessing the impact of regulatory changes on the business, including communication with management and ALCO.
  • Forecast capital adequacy based on business performance and regulatory changes.
  • Prepare and review RBI returns in compliance with guidelines.
  • Contribute to the Automated Data Flow (ADF) project.

This role involves teamwork within the regulatory, CAO, and finance teams, as well as collaboration with business functions to ensure compliance.

Maintain HSBC's internal control standards, ensure compliance with policies, minimize operational risks, and ensure proper record-keeping for inspections and management review. Seek opportunities to improve cycle times and simplify processes.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience with an international bank.
  • Strong knowledge of RBI regulations and BASEL rules for RWAs, HKMA, and UK FSA reporting.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and Excel skills.
  • Good understanding of banking products and their regulatory implications.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
