SMBC Global Transaction Banking Department, Asia Pacific is driving product capabilities and innovation to deliver next-generation channels and cash management capabilities for corporate clients.
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Owner to support a new-generation eBanking platform development initiative.
This is a strategic digital project leveraging the Agile delivery model.
The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and refine user stories for payment products and digital channels, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Stakeholders to review and validate user stories for foundation capabilities & transaction initiative capabilities across multiple products.
- Knowledge of industry best-practices for relevant domains to review user stories to ensure user stories are clearly written, complete, testable, and aligned with business requirements and customer needs.
- Work closely with Agile squads (developers, testers, UI/UX designers) to clarify requirements and address story gaps.
- Participate in Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Weekly Stand-ups, and Sprint Reviews.
- Document workflows, edge cases, and business rules for payments and digital channels.
- Provide support for UAT (User Acceptance Testing), including preparation of test scenarios and validation of outcomes.
- Stay informed on regulatory guidelines (e.g. MAS, SWIFT, JFSA) relevant to banking transactions.
- Assist with gap analysis, impact assessment, and readiness documentation during rollout phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 7~10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in digital banking or transaction banking projects.
- Strong understanding of payment products (e.g. domestic transfers, cross-border payments, GIRO, RTGS, SWIFT, ACH).
- Strong understanding of information reporting, dashboards, UI/UX, Foundation capabilities and Transaction initiation (across multiple products)
- Familiar with eBanking channels, including Web, Mobile, SWIFT, Host-to-Host, and API interfaces.
- Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to dissect complex requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulatory payment compliance (e.g. AML, sanctions, MAS guidelines).
- Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence).
- Experience in writing BRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience in eBanking system replacement projects.
