ABOUT THE ROLE

Hummingbird Bioscience is seeking an accomplished drug development leader as Vice President, Pharmacology to lead non-clinical pharmacology and translational science across our portfolio of antibody therapeutics in oncology and inflammation & immunology. This is a Singapore-based role reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer. The executive will have end-to-end accountability for pharmacology strategy from lead selection through IND/CTA submission and early clinical translation.

The successful candidate will bring broad drug development experience across oncology and I&I, a strong track record with biologics, and the judgment to integrate mechanism-of-action, proof-of-concept efficacy, target engagement, PK/PD, translational biomarker, and safety-relevant data into a coherent development and regulatory package. This leader will play a critical role in shaping portfolio strategy, driving translational and biomarker initiatives, building high-performing teams, enabling the advancement of innovative precision medicines for patients with high unmet medical needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define the pharmacology strategy: Translate target and disease biology into integrated decision-making frameworks with clear decision criteria that enable rigorous candidate selection, mechanism-of-action validation, and portfolio prioritization across the pipeline.
  • Lead an exceptional pharmacology organization and operating model: Develop and empower a multidisciplinary team across in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, fostering a culture of scientific rigor, accountability, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. Extend capabilities through high-quality CRO, academic, advisor, and other external partnerships. Manage departmental resources, budgets, and strategic priorities to ensure efficient execution across a diverse and growing portfolio.
  • Deliver the IND/CTA-enabling pharmacology package: Direct fit-for-purpose in vitro and in vivo studies spanning mechanism of action, target engagement, proof-of-concept efficacy, PK/PD and exposure-response, translational biomarkers, and safety-relevant pharmacology. Integrate pharmacology findings with DMPK, toxicology, and safety pharmacology to select development candidates, characterize risk, and establish the human dose and regimen rationale.
  • Lead regulatory submissions and health authority interactions: Author, review, and coordinate the relevant pharmacology sections, nonclinical summaries, and supporting reports for IND/CTA and other submissions; ensure scientific consistency, quality, and data traceability; and lead responses to pharmacology-related regulatory questions.
  • Support early clinical translation: Partner with Bioinformatics, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and other functions to define translational and patient-selection strategies, dose-escalation and expansion hypotheses, and early clinical proof-of-concept plans.
  • Guide program and portfolio decisions: Represent Pharmacology on cross-functional program and portfolio teams, synthesize evidence across disciplines, surface scientific and development risks, and communicate clear recommendations to executive, Board, partner, and investor audiences as appropriate.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree in Pharmacology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Drug Development, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience, including progressive leadership in pharmacology, translational science, and drug development.
  • Broad drug development experience across oncology and I&I, with substantial understanding of disease biology, relevant models, translational endpoints, and development considerations in both therapeutic areas.
  • Substantial experience with antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal antibodies, multi-specific antibodies, and/or ADCs.
  • Deep command of integrated non-clinical pharmacology packages, including mechanism of action, proof-of-concept efficacy, target engagement, PK/PD and exposure-response, dose and regimen rationale, translational biomarkers, and interfaces with toxicology and safety pharmacology.
  • Direct experience authoring and coordinating pharmacology content for regulatory submissions and responding to health authority questions.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment, including budgets, resources, CROs, and external collaborations, with the communication skills to influence scientific, executive, regulatory, and partner stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
  • Leadership experience in a clinical-stage biotechnology company and a record of scientific publications, presentations, and engagement with external experts or key opinion leaders.
  • Experience with global health authority interactions and later-stage biologics filings or life-cycle submissions, including BLA/MAA or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting asset evaluation, due diligence, licensing, strategic partnerships, business development, and/or financing activities.
  • Strategic thinker who connects scientific insight to portfolio and business objectives.
  • Strong scientific judgment, with the ability to make timely, data-driven decisions under uncertainty.
  • Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing scientific teams.
  • Exceptional communicator who can engage scientific, executive and partner audiences with clarity and credibility.
