Job Summary

The Head of Index Operations is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of SGX's indices (iEdge) as well as custom indices. This position plays a critical role in maintaining SGX's position as Asia's leading financial marketplace by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and innovation of index products that serve as benchmarks for regional and global markets.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
• Oversee daily index calculation, maintenance, and publication processes across all SGX indices
• Manage end-to-end index operations including corporate actions processing, index reviews, and rebalancing constituent changes
• Ensure high reliability and accuracy in the real-time index calculation systems
• Support compliance with global index governance standards and best practices, including IOSCO principles
• Lead quarterly and annual index reviews, managing stakeholder communications and implementation of changes
• Establish and maintain robust operational controls, risk management frameworks, and business continuity procedures
• Drive innovation in index methodology and product development to meet evolving market needs and regulatory requirements
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers including asset managers, ETF providers, and index users
• Support business development initiatives to expand index licensing and commercialization opportunities

2. Team Leadership & Development
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of index analysts, operations specialists, and technology professionals
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
• Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for team members
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Technology, Risk Management, Market Operations, and Business Development

3. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
• Ensure full compliance with MAS regulations and international index governance standards
• Manage regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate with compliance teams
• Oversee index methodology documentation and maintain transparency in index operations
• Lead internal and external audits related to index operations

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field; MBA or CFA preferred
  • Extensive experience in index management or financial markets operations, ideally with leadership exposure
  • Proven track record in index operations at major exchanges, index providers, or asset management firms
  • Solid understanding of index construction methodologies and financial market data systems. Familiarity with equity markets, derivatives and ETF structures is a plus.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks governing index operations and financial benchmarks
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
