Overall Purpose of the Role
To provide support for assisting clients in all matters related to Rating Agency relationships, including first time rating exercises to support raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services on ratings in relation to mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the rest of Investment Banking team. The role involves both origination and execution activities. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by assisting them to navigate dealings with international credit ratings tied to capital raising activities.
The role requires a very strong and experienced candidate with proven expertise in ratings advisory, origination and execution of DCM transactions.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain direct issuer relationships with FIG and corporate clients to originate and execute capital market transactions
- Direct and, as appropriate, perform debt financing analysis as well as analysis on company financials to ensure deals are well structured
- Assume significant levels of responsibility for the various phases of project and transaction execution, new business development and overall growth of the firm
- Work closely with clients on financing transactions and guide them through the rating agency process, including leading due diligence and drafting sessions and preparing them for facing rating agencies as part of a debt offering
- Work with clients, senior-level team members and outside professional advisors on ratings defence and upgrade strategies, advise pertaining to new or changed rating methodologies and special situation transactions
- Responsible for drafting initial credit analyses, pitch materials, rating agency presentations and oversee work being performed by analysts & associates assigned to projects
- Provide transaction organization support, including preparation of marketing materials and information memoranda with the deal team
- Keep up to date on important developments in the credit ratings world and communicate these to internal partners on a timely basis, including significant industry views, new ratings, rating upgrades/downgrades and new or revised rating methodologies.
- Liaise with the commercial and analytical teams at the rating agencies for assignment of bond issue ratings for issuers that are already rated - often involving updates and coordination such that rating press release comes out in timely fashion at launch of transaction
- Liaise with the syndicate team for pricing and transaction recommendations

Person Specification
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of similar experience in an International/Foreign Bank given the international mandate of Barclays
- Proven expertise in ratings advisory, origination and execution of capital markets transactions.
- Able to contribute effectively in a fast-moving environment with the confidence to interact & influence senior stakeholder levels
- Flexible and adaptable approach, focused on finding a solution to every problem
- Honest, reliable and a strong relationship builder
