Job Summary
The Vice President, Finance is based in Singapore at Capella Hotel Group (CHG) Corporate office. He/she holds overall responsibility for the accounting and financial operations of CHG and its managed hotels, ensuring a robust environment of financial control. The role is instrumental in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the finance function, while providing strategic business support to CHG’s Management Team and the hotels’ General Managers and Directors of Finance. This includes delivering sound financial advice and analysis aimed at maximising value. A key focus is the continuous improvement of financial controls, procedures, and reporting, to drive greater impact and operational efficiency.
The Role
Financial Accounting and Control
Oversee CHG’s accounting records and financial reporting to ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and ownership agreements.
Maintain accurate and reconciled balance sheets that reflect CHG and managed hotels’ true financial positions.
Ensure compliance with legal, tax, insurance, and licensing requirements, including managing permits, leases, and contracts that affect financial standing.f
Coordinate internal and external audits, follow up on corrective actions, and ensure all revenue is captured using control checklists.
Management Reporting
Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful performance reporting to support decision-making.
Implement benchmarking, KPIs, and balanced scorecards with a focus on historical, forward-looking, and external comparisons.
Business Partnership
Provide financial and commercial support to CHG’s Management and hotel leadership through interpretation, analysis, and recommendations.
Propose value-added initiatives, constructively challenge existing practices and support business development, pricing, and commercial decisions with sound financial input.
Information Technology and Systems
Support implementation and maintenance of financial systems in both Corporate office and hotel settings to enhance Finance Department effectiveness.
Investment
Use project evaluation to direct capital toward high-return initiatives.
Ensure accurate and well-judged project authorisations, with required approvals before commitment.
Conduct post-investment audits and ensure compliance with capital policy and spending controls.
Looking Ahead
Take a support role to CHG’s Management and hotel’s General Manager/Director of Finance in strategic and master planning with a forward-thinking approach to uncover new value opportunities.
Oversee the budgeting process for both Corporate Office and hotels.
Investment in People
Recruit and retain top talent, promote succession planning, and foster strong colleague relations.
Educate and develop finance teams; lead with motivation and set measurable goals with regular feedback.
Enhance financial literacy across the broader Management Team.
Cost Management
Identify cost drivers and use analysis to encourage cost-conscious decision-making.
Ensure effective purchasing processes and benchmark costs against peers.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and manage financial risk, while operating a lean, efficient Finance Department.
Others
Ensure best practices in financial accounting and internal controls are continuously reviewed and enhanced for effectiveness and efficiency.
Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard CHG and hotel assets, manage liabilities, and ensure accurate reporting of revenue and costs, in line with company policies.
Deliver clear, action-oriented financial reporting that drives management decisions.
Provide high-level financial and commercial support to both corporate and hotel leadership.
Leverage IT systems to enhance Finance Department productivity and data quality.
TALENT PROFILE:
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality management, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant
Work Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate development roles, preferably in the luxury hospitality industry.
Proven track record of success in driving revenue growth, forging strategic partnerships, and executing complex business deals.
Proven track record in managing investors and the Board of Directors.
Technical Skills
Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze financial data, evaluate investment opportunities, and assess ROI.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders at all levels.
Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for innovation and growth.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Leadership experience with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
