Job summary

Mizuho Bank Singapore Branch is seeking a senior banker to originate and support APAC financial sponsor transactions. You will lead M&A advisory, corporate finance, and capital markets activities in coordination with MHSA/MHSS to serve a diverse client base in the APAC region.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and at least seven years of relevant experience in financial sponsor coverage, M&A advisory, or corporate finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher is the minimum requirement.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in financial sponsor coverage, M&A/advisory, and industry teams.
• Understanding of M&A, capital markets, private debt/credit, and corporate banking products.
• Able to work independently and in a team; willingness to travel within APAC.

Responsibilities

• Originate/Support-to-originate businesses in APAC excluding Japan in the financial sponsor space.
• Provide M&A advisory in collaboration with Mizuho entities.
• Engage in corporate finance, acquisition finance and structured products.
• Support ECM, DCM and other MHSA/MHSS offerings to clients.
• Lead deal execution and coordinate with client representatives and legal/advisors.
• Educate and mentor junior team members; strengthen deal origination.

Job Responsibilities

• Originate/Support-to-originate businesses below amongst others from existing and prospective clients in the Whole APAC region (excluding Japan) in the financial sponsor space by utilizing his/her own sector/product knowledge, expertise and experience:
• a. M&A advisory in collaboration with other entities within Mizuho Financial Group;
• b. Corporate finance, acquisition finance (recourse and non-recourse), other structured products (such as fund finance, project finance and real estate finance);
• c. ECM, DCM and other products/services by MHSA (Mizuho Securities Asia)/MHSS (Mizuho Securities Singapore); and
• d. Ancillary businesses in event-driven deals such as FX, derivatives, trade financing and transaction banking.
• Proactively cover financial sponsor clients and their portfolio companies with strategic conversations, content-rich engagement, comprehensive presentations and ptich-books. Maintain close dialogue with key stakeholders, deal teams and capital markets teams.
• Ideate and work closely with sector bankers, product bankers and country bankers across the network in APAC (including Japan), Americas and EMEA to pitch the most appropriate products/solutions to the clients and actively participate in transaction execution.
• If needed, lead deal execution including acting as team leader on transactions as appropriate. This includes coordinating with key client representatives, external legal counsel and advisors, internal stakeholders and other parties to the transactions.
• Support the development of the bank's distribution capabilities including in the private/credit space.
• Instruct, support and educate other team members and junior colleagues, strengthen the deal origination function and contribute to Mizuho Financial Group and its financial sponsor franchise.
• To perform concurrent assignments in MHSA/MHSS after becoming a licensed representative.

Job Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher is a minimum requirement, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics or related disciplines.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience in financial sponsor coverage, M&A/ financial advisory and industry teams, preferably obtained from financial institutions or corporate finance advisory firms.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, client oriented and focused.
• Strong technical abilities with an understanding of M&A, capital markets, private debt/credit, financial markets and corporate banking products.
• A strong team player, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and able to work independently if needed.
• Travelling within APAC may be necessary.
