Job summary

1011 United Overseas Bank Ltd seeks a senior Data Platform/Analytics Engineer to lead end-to-end data platform delivery, datamart evolution and analytics enablement. You will work with analysts, stakeholders and tech partners to ensure scalable, governed data foundations and compliant data practices.

Strong SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT skills are required, with 8–12+ years in banking contexts. You will contribute to governance and regulatory readiness while mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in data engineering, data platform or analytics engineering roles, preferably in banking or regulated environments.
• Hands-on experience implementing enterprise-scale data platforms (EDW, Datamarts, Data Lakes) from requirements to production.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and performance optimisation concepts.
• Experience working in multi-stakeholder delivery environments with Technology, Business and Analytics teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in end-to-end build and evolution of enterprise-scale data platforms, including datamarts and analytics layers.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts/Scientists and business stakeholders to enable governed self-service analytics.

Job Description

• Data Platform & Architecture (Collaborative Delivery)
• Participate in the end‑to‑end build and evolution of enterprise‑scale GWB data platforms, including datamarts and analytics layers, in close collaboration with key Technology and delivery partners.
• Contribute to data modelling standards, transformation logic and reusable engineering patterns, ensuring scalability, performance and consistency across countries and products.
• Analytics Enablement & Business Partnership
• Work closely with Data Analysts / Scientists, Business stakeholders, Technology and Data Governance teams to enable governed self‑service analytics and downstream use cases.
• Support advanced analytics initiatives (e.g. risk assurance, early warning, monetisation, GenAI‑enabled analytics) by helping ensure reliable, well‑structured and well‑documented data foundations.
• Provide technical input and practical perspectives to analytics leadership on feasibility, dependencies, sequencing and implementation considerations.
• Governance, Risk & Regulatory Readiness
• Ensure data engineering deliverables adhere to data access controls, country restrictions, governance approvals and regulatory requirements, particularly for cross‑border data use.
• Support internal audits, model validation and regulatory reviews through clear documentation, traceability and explainability of data pipelines and transformations.
• People & Capability Contribution
• Contribute to raising engineering standards and good data practices within the GWB Data Analytics team through reviews, knowledge sharing and mentoring.
• Review designs, code and delivery approaches, helping teammates develop platform‑level thinking rather than ad‑hoc solutions.

Essential

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform or analytics engineering roles, preferably within banking or large regulated environments.
• Hands‑on experience participating in enterprise‑scale data platform or datamart implementations (EDW, Datamarts, Data Lakes), from requirements through to UAT and production.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL, data modelling, ETL / ELT frameworks, and performance optimisation concepts.
• Experience working in multi‑stakeholder delivery environments, collaborating with Technology, Business and Analytics teams.

Strongly Preferred

• Exposure to Wholesale Banking, Credit, Trade, Liquidity, Risk or Finance data domains.
• Experience working with self‑service BI ecosystems, layered data architectures and governed analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with data governance, audit considerations and regulatory data controls in a banking environment.
• Prior experience acting as a technical lead, workstream lead, or senior individual contributor.
