Job summary

A global shipowner client is seeking an experienced Vessel Manager to oversee the efficient operations of their fleet in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of experience as an Assistant/Technical Superintendent, preferably on container vessels. Responsibilities include managing vessel safety compliance, daily operations, and maintenance tasks, while maintaining strict cost control. A strong safety-oriented mindset and good communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety compliance onboard vessels.
  • Manage daily operations and advise ship staff on technical matters.
  • Oversee the maintenance of vessels for seaworthiness.
  • Maintain cost control of the annual operating budget.
  • Coordinate crewing with HR for the assigned fleet.
  • Review corrective and preventive actions from investigations.
  • Maintain strict cost control of the operating budget.
  • Provide technical expertise for sale/purchase inspections when assigned.

About the job Vessel Manager (Container Vessel)

We are looking for an experienced Vessel Manager for one of our global shipowner clients in the Maritime Industry. They are looking for an experienced Vessel Manager for the efficient operations of their companys fleet of vessels.

The ideal candidate would have 2 to 3 years of experience as an Assistant/ Technical Superintendent, preferably on container vessels. They should possess a good working attitude and have a safety oriented mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and ensure safety matters onboard and ensure vessels are operating in compliance with all Maritime and companys safety rules and regulations.
  • Manages vetting, PSC and Class performance and ensures compliance with all relevant international and local regulations and that all vessel certification and surveys for class, flag and international requirements are compiled and maintained. Ensure to implement and follow up and follow through on all corrective/preventive actions.
  • Manage daily operation of the assigned vessels and advise Masters/ Chief Engineers and Ship staff on all technical matters such as but not limited to all technical/engine room operations, anchoring and mooring operations, cargo & related operations etc.
  • Manage the maintenance of the vessels to ensure seaworthiness and conduct risk analysis and monitor ship defects to ensure proper rectification of all defects.
  • Oversee and manage crewing matters of the assigned fleet in cooperation with the marine HR team.
  • Review corrective actions, preventive actions and recommendations from investigation and analysis of accidents and near misses.
  • Maintain strict cost control of the annual operating budget for each of the assigned vessels.
  • Provide technical expertise such as sale and purchase inspection and other projects when assigned.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent and at least 2 years of shore-based experience technical managing container vessels or other vessel types.
  • Prior experience as Chief or Second Engineer preferably on container vessel or sailing. experience on vessels such as bulk carriers/ tankers/ offshore will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Having a safety-oriented mindset and has a good track record of operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Good decision-making skills and Stakeholder management are a must.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
