Job summary

A leading company in the engineering sector is seeking a Field Service Engineer to enhance customer relationships and provide technical support for rotating equipment. This role includes troubleshooting, analysis of operational problems, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure effective maintenance execution. Candidates should hold a relevant engineering degree and possess substantial experience in gas or steam turbines. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.

Job Descriptions:

40%

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, ensuring that their technical issues and requirements are clearly understood and addressed in an effective and timely manner.

  • Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution, using technical product knowledge and analytical skills while adhering to sound engineering principles, standards, practices, and procedures.

  • Prepare and present clear and concise technical instructions, procedures, reports, specifications, and proposals.

  • Communicate with and proactively support the customer to act on technical information notices to enhance plant performance.

  • Identify potential failures with support from the 24/7 remote monitoring hub and expert support, and proactively engage customers to develop countermeasures.

  • Analyze, track, and report monthly Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) data and relevant KPIs for the LTSA for invoicing and performance monitoring against contractual guarantees and obligations.

  • Review and present the monthly monitoring diagnostic reports to customers.

  • Support prospecting, developing, and winning aftermarket sales opportunities.

  • Travel to customer sites in Singapore and Malaysia to support project and technical meetings.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders (e.g., customers, LTSA program manager, technical advisors, service engineer team, repair facilities, and local vendors) to support planning and successful execution of planned or unplanned maintenance.

  • Present and discuss plans and schedules for planned and unplanned maintenance.

  • Coordinate and support the efficient dispatch of parts and technical advisory services.

  • Perform technical advisory services related to planned or unplanned maintenance.

20%

  • In the event of plant emergencies (including outside normal working hours), travel to site on short notice to provide on-site troubleshooting and fact-finding support to the customer and internal stakeholders, and provide technical advice for unplanned maintenance and re-commissioning of power plants.

  • Communicate failure data (e.g., interviews, pictures, measurements, event logs, data logs) between the customer and internal stakeholders to support investigations of operational problems involving the power train and auxiliary systems.

  • Lead or support root cause analysis to determine the original cause of failures leading to forced outages, and recommend countermeasures to minimize impact.

  • Investigate problems occurring during maintenance, consult with internal stakeholders, and provide urgent solutions.

  • Summarize findings and conclusions in clear, logical reports for stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in gas turbines, steam turbines, or large-scale rotating equipment design, installation, commissioning, operation, or maintenance.

  • Customer service experience involving interaction with plant personnel.

  • Practical troubleshooting experience on site with rotating equipment and plant restoration.

  • Experience liaising with field service and engineering teams for technical resolution and root cause analysis.

  • Technical knowledge in gas turbines, steam turbines, turbine generators, large-scale rotating equipment, control systems, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to develop and write clear technical instructions, procedures, reports, and proposals.
