Job summary

ICON OUTSOURCING in Singapore is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to manage and secure a mixed Solaris/Linux environment. The role covers system upgrades, DR planning, backups, and incident resolution, with 24/7 roster support for production services.

The ideal candidate will have 6–8 years in middleware, Unix/Linux, SAN storage, OS hardening, and automation scripting, plus cloud and data centre familiarity. Shift-based coverage is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 6-8 years of experience in system administration and support in Middleware, Unix, and Linux.
• Experience in working with SAN for Unix and Linux platforms.
• Experience in performing OS hardening and patching.
• Experience with enterprise backup and system monitoring and management software.
• Proficient in scripting for Unix and Linux-based environments to automate tasks.
• Familiar with database administration and data centre operations will be an advantage.
• Provide 24/7 support on a rostered basis.
• Provide weekend and after office hours support for change implementation (for critical production services).
• Industry certification for public cloud administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform system administration and maintenance in a heterogeneous environment (production, DR, test) of Sun Solaris and Linux servers.
• Perform system upgrades and enhancements on IT infrastructure components.
• Implement OS and product-specific security hardening and patches.
• Monitor obsolescence and renewal of system passwords and certificates.
• Implement backups and database archive operations for recoverability and continuity.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and test regularly.
• Manage the application UAT and maintain the UAT environment.
• Provide second level system support and resolve incidents per SLA.
• Assist end-users and other IT resources with technical guidance (level 3).
• Diagnose problems and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
