Brief Job Description: System engineer responsible for managing and administering Agency IT infrastructure (servers).

Responsibilities include:

  • Installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading Linux servers (RHEL 7.9 and above).
  • Configuring and installing server hardware, OS, and third-party products; building, assessing, and recommending hardware and software upgrades.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues with minimal intervention, ensuring timely communication with relevant parties.
  • Knowledge of VMware products (ESXi, vSAN) and data center virtualization tools is an advantage.
  • Understanding of firewalls, antivirus applications, network applications, TCP/IP protocols, DNS, and IP management.
  • Managing Windows Clustering and Active Directory; assisting with cloud migration projects (Azure, AWS, Google).
  • Managing data center operations, backup systems (Veeam, Veritas NetBackup), and enterprise storage systems (e.g., EMC).
  • Monitoring logs using tools like SolarWinds, Splunk, Tanable; generating reports as required.
  • Keeping systems updated with the latest patches by tracking releases, conducting UAT testing with vendors, and planning production deployments.
  • Performing operational tasks such as log review, account management, system takeover, SR and incident management, responding to alerts, user account creation, and providing infrastructure-related consultations.
  • Escorting vendors into the operations room upon approval.
