Job summary

NCS Group invites interns to join the Middleware team to support AI, cloud, event-driven architectures, API management, integration, and automation. You will learn enterprise integration across platforms and contribute to practical solutions in an Agile setting.

You will gain hands-on experience with cloud platforms, AI technologies, and modern software architecture while delivering reusable assets and solution accelerators for project delivery and presales demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering.
• Interest in AI, LLMs, and enterprise integration is required.
• Familiarity with APIs, services, and software development processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-powered assistants to support design and engineering tasks.
• Build knowledge assistants using Middleware reference architectures.
• Prototype AI-enabled middleware using MCP, AI Gateways, and Agentic AI.
• Assist in API gateway and enterprise integration design.
• Create observability dashboards and runbooks for operations and resiliency.

Job Description

You will be part of the Middleware team supporting the technology roadmap across AI, Cloud, Event-Driven Architecture, API Management, Integration, Observability, and Automation.

Working alongside experienced architects and engineers, you will help develop AI-powered tools, reusable technical assets, and solution accelerators that support real project delivery, solution design, and presales activities. Rather than building experimental AI prototypes, you will contribute to practical solutions that can be adopted across the organisation.

Throughout the internship, you will gain hands‑on experience with enterprise integration technologies, cloud platforms, AI, and modern software architecture while working in an Agile environment.

What You\'ll Do

Depending on project needs, you may be involved in:

AI Solution Development

• Develop AI-powered assistants and agents to support solution design and engineering activities.
• Build and enhance Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) knowledge assistants using approved Middleware reference architectures.
• Prototype AI-enabled middleware solutions using technologies such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI Gateways, and Agentic AI.

Solution Architecture & Integration

• Support the development of reusable architecture patterns, templates, and technical assets.
• Assist in designing API Gateway and enterprise integration solutions.
• Contribute to event‑driven architecture designs using messaging platforms such as Kafka, Solace, RabbitMQ, Confluent, and IBM MQ.

DevOps & Observability

• Support the creation of monitoring dashboards, observability patterns, and operational runbooks.
• Assist in documenting resiliency, security, and non‑functional requirements (NFRs) for enterprise solutions.

Research & Innovation

• Research emerging AI, cloud, integration, and automation technologies.
• Evaluate new tools and recommend improvements to Middleware capabilities.
• Contribute ideas that improve engineering productivity and solution delivery.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work with senior architects and engineers in Agile sprint teams.
• Participate in solution discussions, design reviews, sprint planning, and technical demonstrations.
• Develop reusable assets for internal adoption, project delivery, and presales demonstrations.
• Document technical designs, implementation guides, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Interest in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI agents.
• Basic understanding of APIs, system integration, or automation technologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts, CI/CD, monitoring, or observability is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Curious and eager to explore emerging technologies.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn enterprise integration platforms such as Kong, Solace, Kafka, Workato, and IBM MQ.
• Proactive, adaptable, and willing to take ownership of assigned work.
