Job summary

AIG Asia Pacific Insurance Pte. Ltd. is hiring an Underwriting Manager, Energy in Singapore. You will lead energy underwriting strategies, manage broker/client relationships, and drive profitable growth across APAC markets.

The role requires 2+ years in energy/construction underwriting or brokerage, strong financial analysis skills, and Excel proficiency. Collaboration with risk engineering, claims, and analytics teams is essential, along with effective stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • Degree required: Bachelor’s or higher in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge in financial/credit analysis and interpretation of financial statements.
  • Minimum 2 years of underwriting or brokerage experience in energy and construction.
  • Experience in account management and dealing with brokers or clients.
  • Proactive, independent, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel.

  • Work cross-functionally with other underwriting teams to achieve objectives.

How You Will Create An Impact

As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.

You will deal directly with brokers and clients to handle new business and renewal submissions and perform underwriting analyses, in line with global underwriting strategy, which generates positive returns for the business.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Assess and underwrite prospect business and renewal accounts in APAC, in line with your underwriting authority, as well as the AIG's business strategy and underwriting guidelines
  • Work closely together with our risk engineering, claims and analytical support teams to assess risk quality and loss exposures, determine appropriate pricing and ensure operational efficiency
  • Negotiate contract terms with brokers and clients
  • Adhere to company procedures and documentation management standards
  • Ensure that underwriting information is maintained accurately in underwriting systems
  • Foster strong business relationships with external and internal business partners
  • Gain a thorough understanding of our clients' businesses to develop effective insurance solutions
  • Attend client/broker meetings, presentations, and relevant industry events on behalf of the company
  • Participate in special underwriting projects as required
  • Work cross functionally with other underwriting teams in AIG to achieve corporate objectives
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree
  • Strong knowledge in financial/credit analysis and interpretation of financial statements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience underwriting or brokerage experience in the energy and construction segment
  • Experience in account management, dealing with stakeholders (Brokers etc)Independent, able to multi-task and possess initiative to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills and proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Results oriented and highly accountable
  • Foreign language skills are a plus
