The Underwriting Assistant will become an expert in the field of Commercial Insurance. Duties include the end-to-end servicing of insurance placements, both locally and internationally. The primary responsibility is to handle new/renewals and associated endorsements on behalf of underwriters, as well as support other services and ad hoc projects related to the underwriting process.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  1. Coordinating with Underwriters and stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of insurance programs, ensuring data is complete and accurate.
  2. Engaging proactively with Underwriters to facilitate efficient transfer of key information for placements.
  3. Addressing client/broker requests promptly and referring them to Underwriters when necessary.
  4. Maintaining expert knowledge of systems and processes, staying updated on new guidelines.
  5. Tracking implementation progress and liaising with local staff to resolve queries.
  6. Handling policy wording and endorsements, including triaging, segmentation, calculations, preparing endorsement documents, and follow-up with brokers/cedants.
  7. Collaborating with offshore teams on queries to ensure data quality and correct financial bookings.
  8. Supporting the Credit Control team in premium collection, account reconciliation, and chasing outstanding payments.
  9. Diligently following up on outstanding items and documentation with brokers, partners, and shared services.
  10. Participating in team meetings, sharing knowledge, and resolving issues.
  11. Ensuring data quality and accuracy metrics are met.
  12. Coordinating and contributing to external and internal audits.
  13. Supporting the Team Leader in operational matters, including projects, UATs, and implementing new processes or guidelines.

You will report to the Middle Office Team Lead, Singapore.

We seek candidates with:

  • At least a diploma and/or relevant insurance certification, or currently studying for certification.
  • 2+ years of related insurance experience is advantageous, but candidates with strong interest in insurance and no experience will also be considered.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to guide and seek input from stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
