Underwriting Analyst, Facultative and Corporate
Munich Re Facultative and Corporate (MR F&C) is a global business unit responsible for single risk business written facultative or direct. Since its foundation in 2019, MR F&C has significantly and profitably grown its portfolio, created an efficient operating platform and invested into innovative initiatives.
The Underwriting Analyst (UA) Pool plays a key role in collaborating with the Underwriting team to underwrite and analyse all single risk business. In your role as Underwriting Analyst, you will provide the technical cross-line analysis to the underwriters of MR F&C. The job is based in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Underwriters in preparing in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of new business and renewals along the underwriting process including the capturing of risks in our systems. This includes pre-underwriting, conducting analyses and modelling of risks, handling endorsements and post-binding.
- Ensure that underwriting electronic files and technical entries are up-to-date and in compliance with Munich Re and regulatory reporting standards.
- Cooperate with Reinsurance Accounting and Reinsurance Controlling to ensure accurate accounting of single risk business.
- Cooperate with the Claims department in identifying risk-affected locations including linking exposure and losses.
- Follow up on policy renewals and generate renewal and performance summary reports from multiple sources.
- Manage data quality in source systems in collaboration with Corporate Underwriting and Reinsurance Controlling.
- Collaborate and substitute within the global UA framework of Munich Re.
- Closely coordinate with the Underwriting team in achieving portfolio targets.
- Project assignment and ad hoc tasks as defined and agreed with the Head of F&C SEA.
Your profile:
- Min. 1 year experience in underwriting.
- Detailed knowledge of technical principles of facultative/direct underwriting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills – able to visualize, gather information, articulate and analyse complex problems in order to make critical business decisions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent command of English (additional Asian language would be a plus).
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good team spirit.
- Strong IT and analytical skills.
- Good communication with internal and external stakeholders.
