A leading company in the insurance sector is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to aid in managing and maintaining the underwriting system. The role involves communication with brokers, data transfer, and preparation of reports, requiring strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. Candidates should possess a degree and relevant experience in underwriting or reinsurance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Progression towards CPCU or ACII preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of underwriting files and reinsurance contracts.

Job description

Working closely with the Senior Underwriters and Operations team, assist in the management and maintenance of the underwriting system including quality review of information in the underwriting system to ensure all necessary information is captured for reporting purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Communicate with brokers ensuring the smooth flow of data and general underwriting information. Ensure all documentation is prepared and returned to brokers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the transfer of data from brokers/clients to Group risk analysts.
  • Prepare submissions for pricing purposes.
  • Preparation of marketing material or client specific information for underwriters.
  • Coordinate with the claims department on claims.
  • Provide periodic and detailed reporting to management as requested
  • Prepare files/file folders, create index system for files and maintain current status.
  • Checking monthly claims report AX4 for correctness and completeness.
  • Coordinate with the finance department on technical accounts (Back up to Accounts Assistant).
  • Other ad hoc duties/projects as required.

Requirements

  • Degree holder with 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Progression towards CPCU or ACII preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the structure of underwriting files and previous exposure to reinsurance contracts, treaties and reinsurance markets.
  • Prior experience with SICS/nt.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
