Job summary

Allied World Assurance Company is seeking a Construction & Engineering underwriter with 3-5 years of industry experience. You will perform underwriting functions, administer policies and endorsements, and maintain risk exposure monitoring.

The role involves liaising with intermediaries, pricing negotiations, and pursuing upselling opportunities to grow profitable renewal business while ensuring service excellence.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (civil or mechanical) with insurance qualifications (ACII or equivalent) would be an advantage.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience in construction/insurance or risk engineering.
• Self-motivated, well organized, results driven and a good team player.
• Strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle tight timelines and conflicting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general underwriting functions for Construction & Engineering business per guidelines.
• Administrate policies, endorsements, risk bordereaux, and underwriting files.
• Maintain contact with intermediaries and customers, including pricing and coverage negotiations.
• Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities to drive revenue.
• Liaise with Claims on claim activity and market concerns affecting profitability.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes for efficiency.
