What the role is:
Strategy Group leads and organises the Public Service to develop and implement the Government’s strategic priorities.As a member of the Urban Liveability & Community team, you can expect to learn about and contribute to the development of strategies and policies in cross-cutting areas such as the nexus between the infrastructure and environment (I&E) and the economic, social and technology domains. There may also be opportunities for double-hating across different teams in PMO-SG.
What you will be working on:
In terms of responsibilities, you will be expected to facilitate and lead discussions in inter-agency settings to push the bounds of ambition, strengthen WOG alignment and ensure translation of strategies into actions and outcomes. You will need to proactively engage stakeholders across the public service to (i) diagnose and address systemic gaps in the I&E domain and / or how it relates to other domains, (ii) advocate for I&E considerations to be better considered in upstream strategy selection across domains, and (iii) create or update I&E-related processes and policies, so as to achieve key National outcomes.In the course of your work, you will get to work with, and learn first-hand from, political officeholders, senior management members from PMO-SG and other agencies, as well as a wide range of internal government agency stakeholders. The breadth of exposure to strategic issues at the WOG and sectoral levels, space to engage and grow professional networks across the Public Service, as well as opportunity to pick up policy analysis, facilitation and systems design & development skills will be especially valuable to officers who are considering longer-term careers in the Public Service and show potential to take on future public sector leadership roles.
What we are looking for:
• At least 5 years of experience, preferably with some exposure in I&E areas of work. Public sector experience in a strategy or policy analysis role would be an advantage.• Strong critical thinking and synthesis skills, intellectual curiosity and a sense of imagination and creativity.• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.• Excellent interpersonal skills and confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, with strong influencing skills to work across organisational and hierarchical boundaries.• A team player prepared to take on different team roles for different projects to achieve team objectives.• Comfortable in handling open-ended, qualitative research on long-term issues and working with agencies to articulate their impact on public policy and governance. Experience in working on data analytics projects would be an advantage.
