Treaty Underwriter


Job Description & Requirements :


We are seeking a highly skilled Treaty Underwriter to join our team.

This role involves managing and underwriting treaty portfolios across selected territories, with a focus on analytical and strategic decision-making, underwriting discipline, and market insights.


Responsibilities :

  • Analyse, assess, and underwrite treaty reinsurance submissions within designated territories.
  • Perform in-depth portfolio management, including profitability analysis, exposure monitoring, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate closely with brokers and cedants to structure and renew treaty programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive underwriting records and ensure compliance with internal guidelines.
  • Provide market intelligence and insights to enhance underwriting strategies and pricing decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through consistent and high-quality service.
  • Work closely with actuarial, Cat modelling, and finance teams to evaluate and price reinsurance programs.
  • Keep up-to-date with global and regional market trends, competitor activities, and product developments.
  • Additional duties assigned by CUO

Requirements :

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in treaty underwriting, with a strong focus on property & casualty lines.
  • Proven ability in portfolio management, with sound knowledge of underwriting guidelines and reinsurance contract wordings.
  • Strong skills with experience in pricing models, exposure rating, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with catastrophe modelling and analytics tools is an advantage.
