Job description

Job Title: Treasury Planning Manager – Group Finance

Location: Singapore - Central

Your New Company

With a rich heritage and a diversified global footprint, the organization operates across multiple industries including consumer goods, healthcare, and industrial solutions. Headquartered in Japan, it has established a strong presence in key markets across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, driven by a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. As part of its global financial transformation, the company has set up a Global Treasury Centre in Singapore to centralize and optimize its treasury functions. This strategic hub plays a critical role in enhancing group-wide financial efficiency, managing foreign exchange risks, and leveraging tax incentives, while ensuring robust financial governance and compliance across international operations.

Your New Role

  • Spearhead the development and execution of global financial strategies, focusing on liquidity optimization, tax efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the consolidation and strategic deployment of surplus funds across the group, ensuring alignment with regulatory and tax frameworks.
  • Lead the implementation of a Treasury Management System (TMS) to enhance visibility into cash positions, FX exposure, and borrowing activities.
  • Evaluate and restructure existing funding models to create a more integrated and cost-effective financing framework.
  • Design and roll out a global cash pooling mechanism, selecting optimal jurisdictions based on operational, tax, and liquidity considerations.
  • Centralize foreign exchange risk management by transitioning intra-group transactions to a re-invoicing model and implementing internal FX settlements.
  • Collaborate with regional finance teams to ensure consistent execution of treasury operations and adherence to group-wide policies.
  • Drive initiatives to secure and maintain Singapore’s Global Treasury Centre incentive, including compliance and strategic planning.
  • Establish and enforce global treasury policies, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., OFAC, AML, KYC) and robust internal controls.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead continuous improvement efforts across treasury functions.

Key Qualifications for Success

  • At least 8–10 years of experience in corporate treasury or finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity; exposure to banking is advantageous.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher, with professional credentials such as MBA, ACCA, CFA, CA, or CPA being highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in international business environments, with strong English communication skills for meetings, reporting, and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in Japanese is a plus but not a strict requirement.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and financial modelling, along with hands-on experience in TMS and ERP systems.
  • Proven success in leading cross-border treasury projects, including system implementations and process redesigns.
  • Solid understanding of FX risk management, including hedging, trade finance, and currency exposure control.
  • Practical knowledge of international tax structures, transfer pricing, and leveraging tax incentives.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of engaging external partners such as banks, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
