A leading telecommunications company is seeking a Network Operations Manager to design and manage its transmission network. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations and ensure optimal performance, alongside managing a team of engineers. This role requires significant experience in long-distance transmission network design and operational readiness, delivering a critical function in supporting business growth. Candidates with strong communication skills and telecom equipment proficiency will be prioritized.
About the role:
The role involves designing, deploying, and managing Simba's transmission network with various technologies and oversee day to day operational needs.
The key duties and responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
Reporting to the CTO
Design and propose long haul and MRT transport network infrastructure to support the group’s business growth
Provide guidelines and MoP for our operational team to carry our service commissioning, network change and other related work
Act as tier 3 escalation contact for transmission network related faults
Carry out network changes for network expansions/upgrades and fault restorations
Investigative analysis to ensure systems is optimised to provide reliable service to customers
Develop test beds in conjunction with other technical staff to ensure design objectives are met
Engage with network vendors on product and technology updates
Scheduling of 24/7 standby duties.
Oversee Day to day operational needs
Familiar with fibre optic transport system (both active and passive) such as DWDM, CWDM, ROADM, ASON, etc.
Well versed in most physical fibre infrastructure and classification types in but not limited to Singapore’s context, working experience with NetLink Trust is advantageous.
24/7 operational readiness for network disruption troubleshooting and maintenance as well as ensuring optimal performance and stability
Handle and manage a team of engineers overseeing Simba’s physical fibre layer including fixed and mobile broadband topology
Responsible for technical review and preparation of all transmission network equipment
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders for daily operations and project delivery
Experienced with GPON/XGSPON technologies and ITU-T standards, ability to configure network equipment and good understanding of electrical/power requirements is an added bonus
The candidate should possess the below qualities to fulfil the needs of the role:
Degree/Diploma in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in design and operate long distance amplified transmission network and Ethernet based packet transport network
Previous experience in designing and operating long distance transmission network, Huawei system experience preferred
Working knowledge of telecommunication NMS, Cisco and/or Huawei switch equipment, Huawei GPON OLTs and LTE RAN
Experience on commissioning, testing, provisioning, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems and services
Strong written and oral communication skills
Bizsafe Level 1 and 2 certified
Experienced with application/creation of Risk Assessment, Method Of Statement, Permit-to-work and Safe Work Procedures
