DESIGNATION: Trainer - Lifelong Learning


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Trainer sits within LLD and reports to the Senior Manager (Training). The Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for staff, corporate partners, sector professionals, and other stakeholders. She/He plays a key role in equipping participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to enhance their professional development and effectiveness in their respective roles.

Training Design and Delivery

  1. Design and deliver engaging training sessions tailored to the needs of diverse audiences, including staff, caregivers, volunteers, sector professionals, and external stakeholders, to enhance corporate and public service agencies' support for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (PWIDD).
  2. Utilize diverse instructional methods, including lectures, think-pair-share, group discussions, roleplaying, and blended learning approaches.
  3. Adapt training materials to ensure relevance, accessibility, and effectiveness for different learning needs.

Courseware Development

  1. Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and update training curricula based on industry best practices and emerging trends.
  2. Conduct research to inform courseware development, ensuring training materials are evidence-based, relevant, and aligned with best practices in the field.
  3. Develop training resources, training plans, e-learning modules, and assessment tools in a timely manner.

Training Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

  1. Assess training effectiveness through feedback, evaluations, and post-training assessments.
  2. Identify areas for improvement and refine training content and delivery methods accordingly.
  3. Keep up to date with new training techniques and technologies to enhance learning experiences.

Supporting Staff Training and Development in MINDS

  1. Design training curricula based on the specific needs of MINDS staff, ensuring that training is practical, relevant, and directly improves service delivery. This includes promoting the proliferation of person-centred practices through training.
  2. Act as mentors by offering guidance, support, and constructive feedback to help staff grow both professionally and personally.
  3. Foster a supportive learning environment where staff feel empowered to ask questions, seek feedback, and refine their skills.

Others

  1. Take on administrative and project management duties and obligations responsibly as part of overall duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. GCE 'A' Levels or Diploma or Degree in any discipline with relevant experience in working with individuals with disabilities or with relevant experience in instructional design.
  2. Certification in Special Education or Autism is a plus.
  3. Professional certification in training and adult education is encouraged e.g. WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) /WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP).

OTHER INFORMATION

  1. 1-2 years of experience in training and facilitation is an advantage.
  2. Passionate about sharing knowledge and training to upskill staff and enhance external stakeholder's support for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (PWIDD).
  3. A strong believer in lifelong learning, with a passion for continuous professional and personal growth, both for themselves and those they train.
  4. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to engage diverse audiences and tailor training approaches to different learning needs.
  6. Experience in e-learning development and digital training tools is a plus.
  7. Fluency in written and spoken Mother Tongue or another language is advantageous.
