Glencore invites an Trading Analyst Intern on the carbon desk to support market intelligence and financial modelling. You will synthesise market developments into briefs, build valuation models, and assist with deal documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.

Job description

As aTrading Analyst Internon thecarbon desk, you'll support the desk acrossmarket intelligence, financial modelling. It's a broad, commercial role: one day you might be synthesising market developments into a briefing, the next building a valuation model or helping prepare deal documentation.

This is a specialised, desk-specific role - distinct from our broader Data & Analytics internship - built around commercial and financial analysis in support of the carbon business.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Market Intelligence & Commodity Insights

  • Monitor, extract, and synthesise macro trends, market dynamics, and supply/demand fundamentals from a variety of sources
  • Translate complex market data into actionable insights, daily/weekly briefs, and thematic research to inform trading and origination
  • Track regulatory developments, policy shifts, and emerging dynamics across key regional markets

2. Financial Modelling & Project Evaluation

  • Build and update financial models, project-finance structures, and unit-economics models
  • Understand and evaluate carbon project risks, viability and risk-adjusted returns
  • Contribute to client presentations and pitch preparation, presenting financial analysis and strategic insights to stakeholders

3. Data & Reporting Support

  • Extract and pull data from web sources, portals, and internal systems (including light web scraping)
  • Maintain, update, and run existing reports, trackers, and dashboards
  • Clean and organise data feeding into models, briefings, and reports
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
  • Pursuing a degree inFinance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering
  • Solidfinancial modellingability - three-statement models, DCF, and core valuation methods
  • Strong grasp of financial metrics and deal economics (IRR, NPV, sensitivities)
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
  • An interest in carbon markets, commodities, or origination
NICE TO HAVE
  • Exposure to project finance, valuation, or transaction analysis
  • Ability to work with data using Python and/or SQL
  • Familiarity with market intelligence and benchmark platforms
  • Understanding of carbon markets, energy, or commodity fundamentals
