Job summary

Grasshopper is seeking a seasoned Trader to join our Trading Team in Singapore. You will trade a proprietary book focused on APAC markets with autonomy and high ownership, working closely with risk, operations and technology.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years on index arb/ETF MM or D1 desks, direct APAC/China experience, and strong Python coding for pricing and monitoring tools. You’ll stay ahead of macro shifts and regulatory changes while maintaining disciplined risk controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years trading on an index arb, ETF MM, or D1 desk with proven profitability.
• Direct experience trading APAC and/or China.
• Strong communication skills to explain strategies to stakeholders.
• Coding proficiency in Python for pricing and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Trader to join one of our Trading Teams. This ideal candidate is someone who has experience trading across Asian markets and is looking to step into a role with greater autonomy and ownership. You'll work closely with risk, operations and technology, along with a strong sense of market intuition, quantitative rigor, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

As a key member of the Trading Team, you’ll:

• Trade and take ownership of a proprietary book with focused on APAC and China
• Continuously calculate fair value across index futures, ETFs, and their underlying baskets, incorporating cost of carry, dividend expectations, and financing/borrow costs
• Identify and execute opportunities, including but not limited to ADR, index arbitrage and statistical arbitrage
• Manage risk exposure while operating within firm-wide limits and controls, and track corporate actions (dividends, index rebalances, mergers, splits) to adjust pricing models and positions accordingly
• Stay current on macro, regulatory and market structure developments so as to identify opportunities

We’d love for you to have:

• At least 5+ years trading on an index arb, ETF MM, or D1 desk (basis trading, cross-asset/cross-border arb), ideally within a proprietary trading firm, market maker, or bank with a proven track record
• Direct experience trading APAC and/or China
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex trading strategies and market insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Sharp attention to detail and the ability to make fast, disciplined decisions under pressure
• Coding proficiency in Python for pricing, research, or monitoring tools
