Job description

The Opportunity:

Adecco is partnering with a global commodity trading business (specializing in agriculture/soft commodity), and we are seeking a talent to join their business as an Operations Executive. Reporting to the Trade Execution Head, the successful incumbent will fulfill all aspects of commodity purchase and sale contracts execution in compliance with company policies - including negotiating Letter of Credit and computing laytime calculations.

  • Work location: Central Region
  • Work hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm
  • Salary: Monthly basic up to $6,000 + VB (depending on experience)

The Job:

  • Ensure effective and timely execution of international purchase and sale contracts under various incoterms, from FCA to DDP.
  • Handle the full spectrum of trade execution and documentation for shipments, including barges, trucks, and freight forwarding operations.
  • Review and validate incoming Letters of Credit for accuracy and acceptability, coordinating with buyers to obtain necessary amendments.
  • Issue documentary instructions and ensure timely submission of shipping documents for L/C negotiation or documentary collection to facilitate quick turnaround.
  • Provide required information and documents to the treasury and banks for trade financing purposes.
  • Arrange cargo insurance when applicable.
  • Perform vessel laytime calculations and finalization with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including trading, treasury, and shipping teams, and liaise with external parties such as suppliers, buyers, inspection companies, banks, and insurance companies.
  • Ensure prompt receipt of buyer payments, follow up on overdue accounts, and maintain accurate records.
  • Enter data into ITAS and maintain oversight of vessel operations at load and discharge ports.
  • Appoint third parties, such as surveyors, warehousing, and CMA providers, and handle pre-shipment customs compliance for destination countries.
  • Act as the first point of contact for disputes or negotiations, ensuring the protection of the company's rights under governing contracts.

The Talent:

  • Minimum 5 years of equivalent working experience in agricultural commodity trading and laytime calculation.
  • Basic knowledge of Legal and Accounting terms with sales contracts and execution, dispute and resolution.
  • Experience in trade with China, Brazil, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Australia, Central/South America and commercial cultures is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of OFAC, US, EU Sanctions and general geopolitical risk awareness is a plus.
  • Proficiency in any of the following: UCP 600, ISBP, URC 522, BIMCO, General Chartering, and Incoterms is a plus.
