Trade Manager/Assistant Manager (Shipping)

Job Description

1. Develop a comprehensive trade strategy by analyzing macroeconomic trends, geopolitical shifts, economic policies, and aligning them with the company's goal of becoming a significant regional player.
2. Perform in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, assess the competitive landscape, and uncover potential business opportunities. Essentially, develop a keen sense of market awareness - stay fully informed and proactive.
3. Oversee pricing and revenue optimization strategies to enhance profitability and maintain competitive positioning in the market.
4. Identify and address risks related to service operations, including market fluctuations, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors.
5. Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the cost structure is optimal and competitive for the trade.
6. Lead cross-functional teams across HQ, agencies, and network teams to achieve outstanding trade results, ensuring clear communication and effective execution.
7. Cultivate and sustain relationships with key customers and partners, working closely with commercial teams, including during tender negotiations.
8. Consistently utilize data to derive actionable insights that support informed decision-making.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Maritime, Business, Logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
2. Preferable 8 years of progressive experience in the shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics industry.
3. Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, market trends, and competitors.
4. Strong commercial insight, including analytical skills; anticipating future trends and developments in the market will be an added bonus.
