Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Trade Finance Operations & Settlements Executive to support end-to-end execution of physical oil trading transactions. The role oversees trade finance activities, settlements, and provides basic accounting support to ensure smooth deal flow.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in trade finance or related functions, with LC and settlement experience, and a proven ability to manage multiple transactions with strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in trade finance, operations, settlements, or commodity trading support.
• Experience in oil/energy/commodities trading environments is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of LC, trade finance products, and settlement processes.
• Familiarity with shipping documentation and basic accounting/reconciliation practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Trade Finance Operations: Manage LC, documentary collections, and bank guarantees; liaise with banks and counterparties; prepare financing documents.
• Settlements: Verify invoices and supporting documents; manage receivables/payables; ensure timely settlements; reconcile discrepancies.
• Basic Accounting Support: Process trade invoices/payments; perform basic bank reconciliations; support month-end with docs and reports.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Trade Finance Operations & Settlements Executive to support the end-to-end execution of physical oil trading transactions. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing trade finance activities, overseeing operational workflows, coordinating trade settlements, and providing basic accounting support to ensure the smooth execution of transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Finance Operations

• Manage and monitor trade finance instruments, including Letters of Credit, documentary collections, and bank guarantees.
• Liaise with banks and counterparties regarding financing arrangements and trade documentation.
• Prepare, review, and submit financing documents in accordance with banking requirements.
• Track financing utilization, maturity schedules, and payment obligations.

Settlements

• Verify invoices and supporting documents for payment and settlement.
• Manage trade-related receivables and payables.
• Ensure timely settlements with counterparties and financial institutions.
• Reconcile trade settlements and investigate any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate settlement records and supporting documentation.

Basic Accounting Support

• Process and track trade-related invoices and payments.
• Perform basic reconciliations of bank transactions, invoices, and payments.
• Maintain accurate financial and operational records.
• Support month-end processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors when required.

Requirements
