Job description

Roles & Responsibilities

Position Overview

As a Topside Piping Engineer for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessels, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, and technical integrity of piping systems located on the topside modules of the FPSO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review process piping layouts, isometrics, and material specifications for FPSO topside modules
  • Perform stress analysis and flexibility studies of critical piping systems
  • Create piping design deliverables in accordance with applicable codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API, ISO)
  • Coordinate with structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineers to ensure proper integration of piping systems
  • Review vendor drawings and documentation for piping materials, components, and equipment
  • Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) and support procurement activities
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical support during fabrication and installation phases
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and other safety reviews
  • Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot piping-related issues
  • Develop as-built documentation and maintenance strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Marine Engineering
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in piping design and engineering for offshore facilities, with at least 3 years specifically on FPSO projects
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as PDMS, E3D, PDS, or SmartPlant 3D
  • Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO)
  • Experience with piping stress analysis software (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE)
  • Familiarity with offshore regulations and classification society requirements (ABS, DNV, etc.)
  • Understanding of process safety management principles
  • Experience with material selection for marine environments
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with topsides modularization
  • Knowledge of flow assurance and production chemistry
  • Familiarity with tie-in procedures and hot work on operational facilities
  • Experience in brownfield modification projects
  • Working knowledge of marine systems and interfaces between hull and topsides
